Rawoof's Filly Sells For $150k
There were plenty of smiles in the Todd Blum Bloodstock office as Lot 685 at the 2021 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, a Hellbent x Rawoof filly, sold to Lloyd Kennewell Racing and Group 1 Bloodstock for $150,000.
Rawoof was purchased privately by TBB on behalf of clients of the Adam O'Neill stable for $2,000. Although she was later sold for over 10 times that amount to another owner, there was a quiet moment of reflection from Blum.
"She has changed hands a couple of times since I purchased her privately but it is still a great thrill to see her progeny sell so well," Blum said.
Rawoof was originally owned by Shadwell Stud and is by Lonhro out of the Danehill mare Alqwah. This makes her a half-sister to the three-time Group 2-winning and Group 1 Oakleigh Plate (1200m)-placed Faatinah.
"She had had a few starts to that point and hadn't shown much but we thought she was worth a crack because she was by Lonhro from a Danehill mare. Some client's of Adam O'Neill's raced a few fillies with the view to breeding from them."
"Faatinah hadn't done anything either at the time of purchase and then he came out and won a Bobbie Lewis (Group 2) and was second in the Oakleigh Plate (Group 1).
"I started getting a few phone calls and offers and the original decision was to not sell but as Faatinah kept winning I guess the offers got to hard to say no too.
"She was purchased by a gentleman who had tried to buy her earlier, then he got her in foal and sold her again for a handsome profit so she has been pretty good to everyone on the way through."
The Hellbent filly is her first foal and was offered by Edinburgh Park. She has a Pride Of Dubai colt at foot and was covered by Deep Field last season.
