Curtain Closes On Zoot Suit Riot's Career
There were some sad faces amongst the Adam O'Neil Racing Stables and the Todd Blum Bloodstock team as well with the announcement of Zoot Suit Riot's retirement. Zoot Suit Riot was the winer of five races, four of those with current connections, from 46 career starts and amassed over $106,000 in prize money.
"It has been a great career from the little horse and we couldn't be happy that he is finishing racing with another career in front of him," said Todd Blum.
"He was a flag bearer of sorts for TBB being our first ever associated horse to get to the races and when he won on debut for us it was an amazing feeling.
"He may have never won Group races or won in town but he is everything owning a racehorse is about, he hardly ran a bad race and his blistering turn of foot left us with our hearts in our mouths a lot as well as on the wrong side of a photo every now and then."
Zoot Suit Riot raced for a small group of owners that included trainer Adam O'Neill who purchased the horse out of country New South Wales.
Zoot Suit has been given to one of O'Neill's staff members who will give him a new lease on life after racing and a loving home.
"I can't thank Adam and his team enough for bringing me in on this horse and giving me the opportunity to bring other along for the ride and I wish Zoot Suit all the best in retirement because he has more than earned it."
