Ripplebrook Wins Two In A Row
Ripplebrook made it consecutive wins at his home track on Friday with an impressive six length victory in the Farewell Wayne Pollock BM58 Handicap over 1400m.
The Sharyn Trolove trained gelding has now finished first or second at all four of his career starts.
Young jockey Thomas Stockdale who is well and truly on the rise gave him an excellent ride in front to score the second double of his short career so far.
"My cousin Brandon has ridden the horse his last two starts and he gave me a good insight into the horse today on how to ride him." Stockdale said.
"He said it wouldn't be the worst thing today if I led so I just elected to go forward and he came back underneath me a lot better than what I thought he would and he went through his gears nicely and found the line really well."
Ripplebrook was purchased by Frankie Stockdale and Todd Blum Bloodstock at the 2016 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale as part of the 'Colt's Group' that was later put back through the Inglis Ready 2 Race Sale later in the same year.
He was originally purchased for $17,000 and then was sold through the Ready 2 Race Sale for $63,000.
"It is great to start to see these colts that we selected with Frankie started to hit the tracks with a few runner's across the country in Queensland, Tasmania and this bloke here in Victoria." Todd Blum said.
"He has now had four starts and won two of them and was right in the finish in the other two so he is a horse that we will have some fun following in the future I believe."
Ripplebrook is by Yarraman Park's Hinchinbrook and is out of New Edition.
Todd Blum Bloodstock and Frankie Stockdale went close to having a double on the day with another purchase by the pair running a very close second on debut in the second race on the day.
Elam was having his first start also at his home track for Mario Farrugia and is also another horse that looks as though a win is not too far away.
"Elam was one of the first horse's Frankie and I selected together during the time we were working closely and it was an encouraging first start and he certainly looks as though a win is not too far away." Added Todd Blum.
