Zilbiyr Breaks Through

Zilbiyr made his break through Australian win for trainer Robert Kingston on Tuesday at Mornington in the Tom Burke Handicap over 1500m.

It was a great win for the flashy grey and connections, including Mark and Melissa Bailey, who purchased a share in the imported galloper through Todd Blum Bloodstock.

The flashy grey was given a great ride by top jockey Dwayne Dunn and just held on for his second career win at his second start this prep.

"He showed a bit of promise early on in his first few runs for Robbie but then he fell away a bit and had a few issues that they sorted out and gave him a good spell and he as certainly come back a better horse." Said Todd Blum.

"It was great that Mark was on course to see the win because both he and Melissa really love their racing and get along to the races and I'm glad this horse could get a win because they have been very patient.

Robbie was also very pleased with the win saying "it was a lovely ride by Dwayne Dunn and everything sort of went to plan and it all worked out in the end, he got going early down the side and I think there was value in the win.

"It was delightful to see him win at 1500m because I really believe this horse will get better as he gets out further in trip but we will weigh it up going forward because the horse is definitely feeling well within himself at the moment.

"There are a number of options for him now looking ahead and I am really looking forward to his next run.

"It was great to have most of the owners there as they have been patient with this horse and it was pleasing to see him get the win for them today and a home track win is always god also."

Zilbyr is by Holy Roman Emperor and started his racing career in Ireland in His Highness the Aga Khan's colours after being bred in France.

He was purchased by Ivan Holloway and sent to Australia to be trained by Kingston with a record of one win, two seconds and two thirds from six starts.

Zilbiyr's record now sits at 14 starts, two wins, two seconds and three thirds and certainly looks as though he will add more wins in the future.
