Zoot Suit Back In The Winner's Circle

Zoot Suit Riot broke through with an impressive win today at Echuca in the Echuca CIH BM58 Handicap over 1200m, with Cory Parish on board.

Trainer, Adam O'Neill, was pleased with the horse coming through his last start nine days ago and new that he would relish the 200m step up in distance.

"He has come back really well this prep and has been super in his last three runs and we've gone with the less is more approach this time in," said O'Neill.

"His first two runs over 1000m he was fast home and he relished the 1200m today.

"We didn't do a lot with him between runs as he likes to stay fresh so he mostly trots and swims.

"We will look to give him a week off now as he has earned a bit of a break and then we will probably look for another race in about three weeks."

Regular rider Cory parish was also pleased with the way the son of Not A Single Doubt rounded the field and showed his trademark turn of foot.

"I was pretty keen to stay to the outside today as he is a horse that likes a bit of galloping room and then it was just a case of timing his run so that he didn't go too early and get run down or miss the run."

It was Zoot Suit Riot's second win since being purchased by O'Neill and his third overall. He has also placed a further seven times from 18 starts. He has now won around $50,000 in prize money and has been a very consistent performer.
