Nichols' General to Take Aim at Flemington

Shane Nichols' star three year old, I Am The General, steps up in distance this Saturday in the Dalray Handicap over 1100m.

The I Am Invincible gelding has been in excellent form this year with two wins and two placings from five starts. His worst result being a fifth at Mornington where he was less than two lengths off the winner.

Craig Newitt will again take the ride after riding him in his last two starts, since a freshen up, being on board for one of those wins and one placing. Newitt is keen to stick with the horse as he is trying to reastablish himself back in the Melbourne jockey ranks coming into the Spring after a stint riding in Singapore.

The Mick kent trained Supido looks to be the early danger as he won his last start back in April and has since won a trial in the lead up to this race. The top weight, Rough Justice, is also in some nice form after finishing third in the listed Creswick Stakes at Flemington last start.

I Am The General is no stranger to winning at Flemington as he won at the track as a two year old on his way to the Magic Millions Two Year Old Classic on the Gold Coast.
