Candian Major Running On Cranbourne Cup Day
Canadian Major lines up in Race 10 at this Sunday's Cranbourne Cup Meeting. In what is a steller card, the Chandler Macleod Handicap (Benchmark 70), has attracted a full field with Canadian Major carrying 58kg.
Craig Newitt again takes the ride for the Peter Gelagotis trained gelding and major owner, Mayford Park, were happy to have Craig Newitt back on board.
"Craig rode him last start and we were happy with the way he got home but he jast gave the horses in front of him to much of a start, said Mayford Park's Bruce Maya.
"He has been a hard horse to place because he loves the mile particularly when it is a wet track but he wasn't up and going as early as we all would have liked.
"He has been a good horse to us and the other owners so far and we think he has plenty left in the tank. I'm not sure how many more runs Peter will give him this prep but we have a goal for him next year."
The son of Commands looks well in the weights and is stepping down in grade from a Benchmark 78 last start at Mornington to the Benchmark 70 on Sunday.
We look forward to watching Canadian Major run well on Cranbourne Cup Day.
